FAQ's About Tattoo Removal with Laser

1. Black is an easier color to remove. Typically it requires 4-8 Sessions to clear a black tattoo. Other colors may require more sessions.

2. Each session must be a minimum of 6 weeks apart. You can wait longer if you like.

3. Treatment must be on your natural skin color - no tan. We recommend NO sun exposure for 4 weeks post each treatment.

4. Number of treatments vary depending on how much ink was put in, the quality of the ink and the age of the tattoo. Keep in mind that every tattoo has its own characteristics - No two tattoos are the same.

5. Healing takes approximately 5-10 days after each treatment. Although your skin will be healed within 2 weeks the ink that was broken up during the treatment can take up to 6+ weeks to be removed from the tattoo so that you can see the results.

5/4/2015: Blame it on my youth, but I stupidly got three tattoos when I was a teenager. As an adult, I always found it very embarrassing, especially the one on my hand. 9/2015 - I had gone to Cosmetic Laser Solutions to have a double tattoo removed from my lower right leg which I had put on at the age of 18. I had the tattoo for about 7 yrs when I went for a consultation to have it removed. My tattoo had a lot of green which is one of the hardest colors to have removed. I am ecstatic to report that not only was the entire tattoo removed successfully, but you cannot even tell that I ever had a tattoo in that area. Will the Tattoo Disappear Completely?

Often times it will. Under optimum conditions, up to 97% of the fading of the Tattoo can be eliminated. However, since we do not know the exact specifics on the ink used, how deep the ink is below the skin, it is impossible to predict the exact degree of removal of any specific Tattoo. Some ink colors respond better than others. Dark blue/ black inks typically respond and fade very well. Purple and orange inks also fade very well. Green and yellow inks are the most difficult to remove.

Is Laser Tattoo Removal Painful?

Some people describe the procedure as similar to having an elastic band being snapped on your skin. A topical anesthetic may be used to minimize any discomfort.

This must be applied 45 minutes prior to your treatment.

Does Laser Tattoo Removal cause Scarring?

Risk of scarring is very low - under 5%. It is important that each patient follow our after care instructions to reduce scarring risk.

How many Tattoo Removal sessions will I need?

The number of treatments really depends on many variables: type of ink used, depth of the ink under the skin and the patient's skin type and condition. It can take as few as 3 sessions to as many as 12 sessions, and they must be spaced at least 6+ weeks apart.

The procedure itself takes approximately 15 to 45 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo and the location.
